In China, approximately 10 million dogs are killed for food each year. There is a annual dog meat eating festival that takes place in the city of Yulin. It lasts 10 days and has been taking place since 2009.
6-8 million animals are entered into shelters each year, and only 4 million get adopted from shelters each year. Over 2 million puppies are bred in puppy mills with awful conditions every year and sold by breeders. Instead of mass breading and torturing these animals, people should visit their local shelter and give another chance to an animal that needs their help.
An estimated 1 million animals are abused each year, with the usual punishment being a fine, or a small prison sentence in "extreme" situations
